What are the best sites you have found for coral. I am looking for the most rare and most sought after coral selection. If you have a site, I would like to visit it to see what is being offered. Any help would be awesome.
Looking for:
Acan Lords-Bowerbanki-Micro
Chalice
Echino
Zoo's
Scoly
Cynarina
Monti
SPS
ETC....

I have picked out some truely amazing coral out here. I have never even seen some of these on line anywhere.

I have plenty more if you need more...these seem to be the hottest sites for the "rare" stuff currently, but a lot of people are still buying the frags packs from liveaquaria and pacific east aquaculture and stuff like that.

yep

Are you saying you window shop or actually buy?Does shipping get expensive? What is a descent rate, say for a frag, or even a colony.

cool

Never heard of upscales. I just spoke on the phone with Marvin yesterday. We have been friends since the origonal HRRC days when Jake, Connie and a few others were the real anchors of the club. I miss those days.

Not to get off subject, but... I will never forget the first HRRC meeting I went to at Jakes house in Norfolk. What a cool bunch of fish heads. I had just really got RC going and was making a name. Cliff A. and myself went to this dudes house (Jake) and man it was cool. I met Gill for the first time, Marvin, Jake and a great bunch of reefers. Everyone was jusy hanging out, having a great time and checking out Jakes tank. Just plain fun and people who love the hobby. No rules, no titles, no dues, everyone was adult and mature.
I was handing out cards with a 10% discount and I gave one to Marvin, not knowing who he was.lol He took it, with this funny grin and we went on talking. Jake pulled me aside and with a laugh, said " I don't think he needs one", or something like that. I then found out who he was and so on...
Been friends ever since.
Anyway, thanks for the sites and I could always use more.

I do actually buy, but I prefer not to, nothing ever looks like it does in the picture, sometimes not really even remotely close. Normally shipping anywhere in the lower 48 will run about 35-40$ on a 100$ order, so yes it does get very expensive, its way better for me to make the drive down to your place from Newport News. There is a site in washington now that is offering free shipping to any order over 100$ I think there may be some sort of set price by certain shipping companies, I know I have even heard of a limit on weight and number of bagged items per box. I did a 100$ 12 pack frag order from Pacific East Aquaculture, and I paid I think 42$ for shipping. So shipping rates are pretty subjective. I know that most places do shipping for like 250$ or more.

My biggest pet peeve with online ordering is photos that are highly photoshopped, and photos taken under actinics to make the corals appear different than they would under say a 14k halide.

thanks

Good info from someone who has actually bought on line. I am with you on the photoshoped pictures. You can always tell, specially on aussie or zoo's. I have seen every place here in Cali to buy from. Getting product is easy. I even scored a Bleeding Apple Bowerbanki, talk about rare. I will have some true pictures of actual live stock going up soon. The on line store will be up and running as well. I plan on sponsoring Reef2Reef and some other places to get me noticed.
All the local hobbyist won't have to pay crazy shipping, just a drive to my store. I have everything the other "big" guys have.I have also been to some of the other places, like Pacific East. On the live stock end, I can easily keep up.
Thanks for the info
